A lifelong North Jersey resident, Matt has worked in public and higher education as well as in legal and regulatory compliance.
Matt has served on the Bernardsville Council as well as on various committees including the Open Space Committee, the Cultural Arts Advisory Committee, and as council liaison to the Department of Parks and Recreation.
Matt spent years teaching high school and college English. After completing his Ph.D., he moved into higher education administration, where he primarily managed small-scale and large-scale initiatives associated with student conduct policies and management, Title IX education, and student sexual violence prevention programming.
After almost 20 years in education, Matt recently changed careers and now works in Regulatory Compliance for a telecommunications company.
Matt currently serves as the President of the Rolling Hills at Bernardsville homeowners association and has been a board member for several organizations, including Scotch Plains-Fanwood UNICO, Trilogy Repertory, and Studio Playhouse.
He received his Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Mary Washington; his Master of Arts in English from Seton Hall University; and his Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education Leadership, Management, and Policy from Seton Hall University.
As an actor and athlete, Matt is passionate about the arts, public education, and preserving parks and public spaces.
